Strength & Conditioning / Sport Science Intern

LJ Performance works with youth, collegiate and professional athletes using force plates, timing gates, velocity-based training and individualized programming designed to transfer to sport.
Our experience at the professional and Olympic levels, including MLB and MLS, shapes our approach to preparation, coaching, and athlete development.
What you will learn and practice
- Observe sessions and practice coaching cues, exercise instruction and session preparation under supervision.
- Learn testing procedures using force plates, timing gates and velocity-based training tools.
- Assist with supervised data collection and discuss how results inform training decisions.
- Review individualized programming and athlete progress with the coaching team.
- Develop professional communication skills with athletes and families.
- Complete a supervised case study or learning portfolio using approved, de-identified information.
Who should apply
Students in exercise science, kinesiology, strength and conditioning, or a related field.
Bring curiosity, dependability and a willingness to apply feedback. Relevant coursework, sport participation, research or coaching experience is welcome. Prior mastery of performance technology is not required.
Schedule and duration
Tuesday and Thursday availability is a priority. Additional days are welcome. Exact hours are agreed around academic requirements before placement begins.
The intended pathway is six to twelve months, organized by academic term. Duration and any extension depend on agreed learning objectives and university requirements.
Compensation and academic credit
This is an unpaid educational internship. Academic credit requires advance approval from your university and is not guaranteed. Learning objectives, supervision and evaluation requirements are agreed before placement. No future paid position is guaranteed.
